CREATIVE WAYS TO INCORPORATE THE PANTONE COLOURS OF 2021 INTO YOUR KITCHEN

Creative Ways to Incorporate the Pantone Colours of 2021 into Your Kitchen

This year, Pantone announced two new colours in their line. We have “Ultimate Gray,” a soft colour that reminds people of pebbles, followed by “Illuminating,” which is a very cheerful and bright yellow. Both colours suggest hope and calmness for 2021 – a brighter year that we all deserve. But how can we incorporate these shades into our kitchen? Well, here are a couple of tips for that.

  1. Paint the Appliances

If you do not want to change your kitchen’s main colours, then you might want to try painting the appliances instead – of course, if the material allows it. Imagine how fun it would be to paint your fridge in Illuminating yellow. You’d likely see it even in the dark as you go for a midnight snack. Small items can also be painted with these shades - we’re sure your standing mixer is itching for an update.

  1. Create a Coffee Corner

Most people have their first dose of caffeine in the kitchen, so you may want to create a coffee corner with these colours as the main template - following the latest kitchen design trends, ofcourse. For instance, you may get a nice, cozy chair and coffee table in Ultimate Gray, and then decorate the area in “Illuminating” throw pillows. It will brighten up your day right away so that you can tackle anything there is to come.

  1. Get a Carpet in those Colours

Who says you cannot have a carpet in the kitchen? Many actually do. It’s a good way to add some warmth to the kitchen, particularly when you have cold floors. You can get the carpet in Ultimate Gray with Illuminating accents, or you can reverse the colours and make it a focal piece. Bear in mind that the yellow can get dirty very easily, so you may want to hire some carpet cleaners to bring it back to its vibrant life when needed.

  1. Paint the Cabinets in Two-Toned Style

Another great way to incorporate the Pantone shades in your kitchen is to customise the cabinets – but rather than using just one colour, use both. Create a two-toned style. For example, the bottom cabinets may be painted in Ultimate Gray while the top cabinets will be in the Illuminating shade. This should remind you of afternoons at the riverside, with the bright sun reflecting in the soft pebbles.

  1. Paint the Chairs and Barstools

Illuminating is a great colour choice for kitchen chairs, as it will make them pop out since they’ll be bright and shiny. Like the name of the colour suggests, it should help “illuminate” your kitchen. If you also paint the walls in Ultimate Gray during the renovation, you will have a complete set. The grey will act as a base shade, which will complement the brightness of the yellow.

  1. Use Stencils on the Walls

If you are itching for a kitchen renovation, and you want to get creative with the walls, you might want to try stencils. Ultimate Gray can act as a base colour, while Illuminating may be the pattern. For example, if you want the room to be extra sunny, you could go for a sun or butterfly stencil. You may even try to paint something yourself, using Illuminating over your Ultimate Gray base.

  1. Paint a Multi-Colour Backsplash

As you are renovating, you are bound to come across this issue: what do you do with your backsplash? If you already have a tile one, you do not have to tear it down. Just take some primer and the Illuminating and Ultimate Gray paint colours. Try a chequered design or some triangles. Be creative as you are using the paint. You don’t necessarily have to go over with clear polish, because the tile primer should keep everything in place.

  1. Use Curtains

Nowadays, not many people use curtains in the kitchen, as they are going for the sleek, modern look. However, if you want to get that country vibe, then curtains are a good answer for you. Sunny “Illuminating” curtains will look great and brighten up the kitchen, but you might also go for a colour combo between the two. For instance, if you want a less flashy design, then you can get the main colour in Ultimate Gray and use Illuminating fabric paint to draw some stripes at the bottom.

  1. Get an Accent Wall

Accent walls are this year’s kitchen trend. As a result, you might want to ditch the same-colour kitchen and go for an accent wall. Three walls can be painted in Ultimate Gray, and one in Illuminating. The bright wall will balance out the grey tone and will offer a sense of calmness to the kitchen.
