HOME RENOVATION TRENDS 2021

Home Renovation Trends 2021

Things are easier with trends for home remodeling than for clothing. Renovation never loses its relevance. Adding a few accents to the home design, you can create a truly trendy interior that will please the eye of all onlookers. What are designers preparing for the 2021 season? What style of interior is currently in trend? Read the article to find out all!

The main leitmotif of the forthcoming season is personalization. The expression of one's own taste, preferences, and interests comes to the foreground. This approach opens up space for creativity. For an original and somewhat unique environment, you can mix colors and textures, place unexpected accents, that is, in all possible ways to declare yourself. Even in the design of the ceiling, non-standard techniques can be used, for example, combining a stretch canvas with unusual plastering techniques.

Interior Lighting

Interior trends of 2021 involve the use of maximum light, for example, with the help of lighting spots and light panels. Led lighting should "move" from the ceiling to the furniture and floor. It is used everywhere. You can even further highlight plumbing fixtures with it. LEDs allow you to create the effect of flying, hovering objects in space.

Built-in lamps have not lost their relevance either, but they must be made of metal, paper, porcelain, and metal to fit the modern people’s requirements and the new trends. There is a large selection of lighting devices in the design collections, from quirky ones with the original decor to simply concise ones.

Floor Covering

The floor is a very important part of the design. The final picture of the interior largely depends on how well it will be decorated. Of course, when choosing a floor covering, homeowners often pay attention to its cost and functional characteristics. But nothing prevents you from listening to the opinion of designers and choosing not just a reliable, but also a fashionable floor! Let's see what trends in floor coverings exist today.

  • Hardwood

Hardwood could not displace from the market of floor coverings even such novelties as flotex and bamboo floors. In fact, why look for something else if the tree is beautiful, convenient, and durable enough!

In 2021, preference is given to a massive wide board with a pronounced texture, rough and as if unprocessed. According to designers,  the most fashionable wooden floor is rustic, which looks very colorful with its knots of different sizes, sapwood (young, lighter sections of wood), and tangential sawing with a wavy pattern of rings.

  • Tile

Tile is an undisputed leader among floor coverings for the bathroom, kitchen, halls, corridors, and hallways. Ceramic tiles, with their undeniable functional advantages, also offer a very wide range of shapes and shades, which allows designers to experiment with interior design.

Other fashionable floor coverings:

  • Vinyl

  • Bamboo

  • Linoleum

  • Laminate

Walls

Today, the market for finishing materials provides a huge scope for creativity. But still, we would like to note the trends that have been particularly relevant over the past few years: naturalness, environmental friendliness, and safety of materials.

Of course, everyone wants to be surrounded by only the best, high-quality finishing materials at home. Natural wood and stone, undoubtedly, will always be relevant. Natural materials have a unique pattern and texture; they are never boring.

  • Stone Veneer in Wall Decoration

Stone veneer is a thin plate of natural stone. As a rule, shale is used. It is a rock that has horizontally stretching thin mineral plates that can easily delaminate. Stone veneer can also be made from artificial stone.

By the way, there is a translucent stone veneer, from which you can make glowing panels and lamps. This material can be used in the interior of any room, it is easy to install, and it does not require special care. Stone veneer can be glued not only to the wall but also to furniture.

  • Textile and Fabric Panels in Wall Decoration

Fabric panels are gaining popularity. They are made to order, are used most often in the bedroom, look very cozy, and at the same time give additional noise insulation.

  • Clapboard and Plywood for Eco-Style Finishes

If you want to emphasize the environmental friendliness of the interior, you can use clapboard or plywood (but you need to look at the labels to buy high-quality material). You can stack them as a whole, in a wide format, or cut out panels from them, mount them flat or three- dimensional. It all depends on your imagination and the task at hand.

Windows

When it comes to building or buying a new home, among other things, there is also the question of choosing the shape and color of the windows. But, unlike owners of unified apartments, bound by a standard layout, owners of private houses are not limited in the choice of window shape and design.

Well-placed window openings can fill the house with light and solve the problem of illumination, and, in turn, the size, shape and color create an individual appearance of the interior.

So, you can choose a window based on its shape and purpose.

Panoramic Windows

The homeowner’s desire to make the space wider, more voluminous, and brighter at the expense of any available means is becoming more and more popular. That is why portal systems and panoramic glazing are becoming increasingly popular in the design and construction of private homes.

Non-Standard Window Shapes

  • Arched Window

An arched window can transform any interior. There are many types of arched windows: semicircular, Moorish, Gothic, English. The most popular among them are semi-circular. In shape, these are the same rectangular windows but elongated vertically and ending in a semicircle at the top.

Such a window will add a bit of vintage to the interior, reminding us of the Provence style or English classics of Victorian architecture.

  • Round Window

An original element of the interior can be a round window, which does not have to resemble a porthole and be deaf.

  • Trapezoidal Window

Trapezoidal windows, contrary to popular belief, are suitable not only for the interior of the attic. Despite the complex design, the trapezoid window sashes are not necessarily blind. Therefore, this window can be ventilated, which means that it is suitable for any room.

  • Triangular Window

Triangular windows are usually installed under the roof of the house and perfectly combined with rectangular windows. These windows are installed as a source of additional light.

Corner Windows

Recently, designers everywhere began to apply this interesting design technique, by which two Windows are connected at right angles, forming a glass corner. This angle creates a sense of "wedge" into the external environment and provides cross-dimensional illumination.
